Welcome to the Cumann na mBunscol, Gaillimh Website

Fáilte ar ais! It is great to finally be have our games back after a long break. This year our Cumann na mBunscol games will be run differently.

For the summer of 2022, schools have chosen to play non-competitive games just within their groups with NO FINALS. This will enable schools to have great flexibility as regards when games are to be played as there are no deadlines for Finals. Matches can be played up until the end of the school year and schools will be able to ensure that all their players get game-time.

Please click on the fixtures links to view the groupings for the 2022 season. We hope ye enjoy the games. Best of luck to all!

Cumann na mBunscol, Gaillimh is an organisation which works towards the promotion of Gaelic Games, Handball and Athletics, within Primary Schools throughout Galway city and county.

To date close on 200 schools have registered and affilitated with our organisation. This year almost 4,500 children will take part directly in Cumann na mBunscol activities in Co. Galway. This does not include those who also receive coaching and play Go Games at school. Primay schools competitions in Hurling, Football, Camogie, Girls Football, Handball and Athletics take place annually but we also run the INTO Mini Sevens in all four codes.

Co-ordinators: Without the continued efforts of our co-ordinators, it would be impossible to run our competitions succesfully. We thank them sincerely for their on-going support. We urge all schools taking part in competitions to liaise in good time with their respective co-ordinators. We would ask all co-ordinators to send all results to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Athletics: Over 60 schools took part in our Cross Country Competitions in November. We are very grateful to Keith Joyce, Holy Trinity School, Mervue,  and his coherts for organising the day.

Handball: Our thanks to Fearghas Mac Lochainn who runs the very successful Handball competitions annually. We now have 25 schools affiliated for handball this year.
